Incense can be overpowering, especially if you grew up on the head shop stuff. Not so with this sandalwood blend from the Kyoto-based OGs at Kyokyodo. We recently hit up their bustling shop in Tokyo's thrumming Ginza hood, and were thrilled at the sweet relief of Chitose's subtle scent. It's woodsy and light thanks to a hit of Old Mountain Rozan sandalwood, and won't color the room hours after the smoke has cleared. We're lighting Chitose up for parties and other gatherings where we want to set tone, but not dominate the space. The Sade of incense, this is no ordinary burn.
